Practice Makes Perfect

SCOTT FERRELL

As a golf-only club, Kawonu will set a high bar with its practice facilities.  Andrew Green has positioned and designed a terrific short game area in a prime location between the clubhouse site and our largest lake.  It is also just a few convenient steps away from the first tee.  A wonderful way to ease into your round!

Andrew also intelligently faced the practice tee south, so that members and guests won’t have to deal with the rising or setting sun when hitting balls.  We will work with Joel Newman to design a state-of-the-art Training Center, which will include hitting bays with the latest technology, instructional areas, a fitness/stretching room, and other related amenities.

We have eight current and former PGA TOUR players who have joined Kawonu, and we feel that if we can satisfy their practice needs, the entire membership will benefit!  Your game should improve at Kawonu Golf Club!

Young country club members expect more from their fees than access to a golf course. Scott Ferrell is an industry veteran who is helping lead the creation of Kawonu Golf Club outside Greenville, South Carolina. While they will feature golf only, Ferrell says the pressure to provide top-notch facilities away from the course is real and imminent. Aside from golf simulators that can be used as teaching bays — a must-have in the market these days — the amenity Ferrell is focused on is food and beverage, as, he says, "historically private clubs have had mediocre dining outlets.” Because Kawonu will have a mix of local and national members traveling from afar, Ferrell says they will make dining a primary focus of the experience.
