First Private Golf Club in Greenville in 30 Years Adds Designer
Kawonu Golf Club continues to evolve its vision with the announcement of a new architectural partner.
As reported by FOGolf, Kawonu has selected Joel Newman, a partner in Thomas & Denzinger Architects of Beaufort, to design the clubhouse, lodging, training center, and comfort stations.
Newman will work alongside Andrew Green, the course architect, bringing nearly three decades of architectural experience in projects like Chechessee Creek Club (SC), Ohoopee Match Club (GA), and Spring Island Club (SC) to the Kawonu team.
According to the announcement, Newman’s design philosophy—balancing practicality and beauty—aligns closely with Kawonu’s vision of crafting functional, inviting structures that amplify the natural surroundings and support the overall golf experience.
The development timeline is also noted: construction of the Kawonu course is projected to begin in spring 2025, with the club aiming for an opening in early 2027.
