Hole 8
ANDREW GREEN

The ability to watch a golf ball fall through the sky from an elevated tee shot is one of the great joys in the game of golf. Growing up in the mountains of Virginia, I cherished the opportunities to feel this sense of excitement!
Fast forward to the amazing property at Kawonu where the 8th tee combines the dynamics of the ground with the thrill of a dramatic downhill tee shot into one exciting short par 4! You will feel compelled to launch a driver but will need to avoid a key large bunker in the foreground of the approach. Landing in that sand will lead to one of the most challenging shots in golf, the long explosion shot.
If you choose, you can lay back, but that landing zone tilts right to left, making a wedge into the green a bit uncomfortable. Another option is to play left into the lower approach and pitch up the hill to the putting surface, but this will require a precise hybrid or 3 wood from the tee.
The more times you play 8th, the more you’ll learn about its subtleties, and the more opportunities you’ll have to test your mettle!
